"A Brief History of Doing Less"

It didn't start with a business plan. It started with a beach chair, a phone we refused to look at, and the sudden, radical realization that nothing bad happens if you just... don't.

Sandy Standards was founded on a beach vacation that was supposed to last five days and, mentally, we never left. Somewhere between the second nap of the day and the decision to have a snack and a drink at the same time, it became clear: this feeling — this specific, sun-warmed, deadline-free feeling — shouldn't have to end when the vacation does.

So we started making shirts about it.

Not "live laugh love" shirts. Not inspirational beach quotes stitched onto a tote bag. Shirts that told the truth: that your out-of-office reply is the most honest thing you've written all year, that the tan line is doing more for your self-esteem than your inbox ever will, and that lowering your standards might be the smartest decision you make all summer.

We named it Sandy Standards because that's the whole philosophy in two words — low standards, high enjoyment. Do less. Care less about the things that don't deserve your care. Laugh more at the ones that do.

We're not trying to get you to the beach. We're trying to get the beach into you — the mindset, the pace, the permission to put your phone face-down and mean it — no matter where you actually are when you put the shirt on.

That's why we exist.

That's the story. Now go see what you can get into in Beach Town.
